What to Expect

Sunday Service Times - 9:30 am and 11:15 am

As friendly as most churches hope to be, it still can be a little frightening visiting a church for the first time! Will everyone know what's going on but me? Will people be nice to me? Will my kids like it (and be well-cared for in a safe environment)? Will they ask me for money? How should I dress? Is it okay if I don't believe what everyone else seems to believe?

We've done our best to make the Vineyard as "user-friendly" as possible.  Whatever your background, especially if this is your first visit, we want you to feel comfortable. Here's an overview of what you can expect.

Where We Meet

We meet at 6070 Cahill Ave E in Inver Grove Heights.

From Hwy 494» Exit on the 5th & 7th Avenue exit.  Go south on 7th Ave one mile.  7th Ave turns into Cahill Avenue.  The church building is on the east side of Cahill Ave. a short distance past McDonalds.

From Hwy 52» Exit on Upper 55th St East.  Go east on Upper 55th St to Cahill Ave, & take a right.  The church building is on the east side of Cahill Ave. a short distance past McDonalds.

Upon Arrival

At the front door, there should be some friendly people to say hello, hand you a program of what will be happening that morning, and answer any questions you have. One of the first things you'll notice is the free gourmet coffee or tea. You are welcome to bring a cup into the auditorium. You'll also see that everyone is dressed casually.

Worship

We begin our service with about 20 minutes of singing followed by a few announcements. You are welcome to join in the singing, or simply sit back and enjoy the music.

Vineyard music is known for being contemporary and dynamic so, for instance, we have a band rather than a choir and an organ. The picture of worship painted in the Bible is one of heartfelt expression to God; worship is expressed! People raising hands, kneeling, clapping, or weeping during the music may be new for you. Yet these and other expressions are simply the natural reaction to God's presence. We want to worship in a manner that's real; for us in the Vineyard that means low-key, non-hype, heartfelt responses to the Living God! Read More About Vineyard Music

The Message

Usually Jon or Sue, our Lead Pastors, or Peter, our Associate Pastor, will then give a talk lasting somewhere between 30 and 35 minutes.  We believe that the Bible is God's instruction manual for our lives. Many people who haven't read it much think that the Bible is really hard to understand, but actually most of it is quite clear. We teach things from the Bible like who is God, why did He send Jesus, how can I know how to make it through life's problems - you know, the important stuff! You don't have to agree with everything. We'll just share what we believe and what we've experienced.

Communion

Usually on the third Sunday of each month we take communion together. If you're a follower of Jesus you are invited to join in, or you can sit back and enjoy a song from the band.

After the Service

Our services run about an hour and fifteen minutes.   After the service, many people stick around and make new friends and catch up with old ones around a cup of coffee or tea.
