After learning about the Kingdom of God, we entered into learning more about one of Jesus' most famous sermons, The Beatitudes. While some may see this as a set of ways to be blessed, we learned (thanks to our guest preacher, Rolf Jacobson) that The Beatitudes are a calling for us to show more of God's love to everyone we meet and to help build a beautiful and inclusive community. The Good and Beautiful Life: The Gospel Many People Have Never Heard (Barbara Pelletier)
The Good News of the gospel is that Jesus came to save us and that we have life eternal through him. This is the gospel that we as believers know and share with others. This is the good news that has saved us. But there is even more good news in the gospel! On Sunday, one of our lay pastors, Barbara Pelletier, shared with us more good news found in the gospel and about the goodness found in the Kingdom of God. The Good and Beautiful Life (Peter Benedict)
Our previous sermon series, The Good and Beautiful God, was about discovering what false narratives we were believing about God and learning to love the God the Jesus knows. As we move into our new sermon series, The Good and Beautiful Life, we will explore false narratives about what we think a Christian life looks like and will discover the way that Jesus actually taught us how to live. Through the discovery of these truths, we will find out how good, beautiful, and joyful a life of following Christ can be. The Good and Beautiful God: God Transforms (Justin Law)
How do we experience real life change? The good news is that we don't have to struggle and fight to do it ourselves. Our God is the one who transforms us. He gives us a new identity. He makes us a new creation. He leads us into a new way of living life. One of our Pastors, Justin Law, talked more about this in his sermon on Sunday, July 5. The Good and Beautiful God: God is Self-Sacrificing (Peter Benedict)
On Sunday, June 28, one of our Pastors, Peter Benedict, shared about God's self-sacrificing love. He so wonderfully said, "Our whole story of faith is centered in a God that isn’t waiting for us to earn anything. God comes to us first, God is willing even to die among us, while we are still sinners, because God dearly loves us. God does the work of atonement, God handles the problem that’s too big for us to handle alone. God takes the weight of sin & evil and says: Let me carry that, I just want to fill your heart with my love. Let me show you love, to the point of death, so that you will always know how deep my love goes and how free it is." The Good and Beautiful God: God is Love (Scott Oakman)
What are your expectations for earning or giving love? What are your expectations for earning God’s love? Looking at the God that Jesus knows, we learn that “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19). No matter who you are, God loves you! And we are called to love and God loves us. This is what one of our Lay Pastors, Scott Oakman, talked about in his message on Sunday. To watch his message, click on one of the buttons below.
The Good and Beautiful God: God is Generous (Gay Narron)

The Good and Beautiful God (Peter Benedict)
On Sunday, May 17, we started our new sermon series called The Good and Beautiful God (based on the book by the same name, written by James Bryan Smith). The heart of this book and our series is teaching us how to become more like Jesus. We will do this by exploring four elements: adopting the narratives of Jesus, engaging in soul training exercises, participating in community, and being led by the Holy Spirit. Peter Benedict, one of our Pastors, explored these four elements and introduced us to our first soul training exercise: sleep. To hear Pete’s message, click one of the two buttons below.

Where do you need God’s guidance in self-control? Is it in being kind to your friends and family? Is it in holding your tongue during discussions and debates? Is it in fighting your addiction? The good news is that God has the power to guide you in the fruit of self-control. Pete talked about the fruit of self-control, how God helped him grow in self-control, and what the Bible says about God’s power to help you grow in self-control in his message on Sunday, May 10.
